Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. He graduated with honors in 1979.  In 1995 his mother died of ovarian cancer. After high school, Obama studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years. He then transferred to Columbia University in New York, graduating in 1983 with a degree in political science. In 1985 Barack moved to Chicago. He went to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. In 2004, he became the third African American to be elected to the U.S. Senate. Obama met his wife, Michelle in 1988. They were married in October 1992 and live in Kenwood, Chicago with their daughters, Malia (born 1998) and Sasha (born 2001).
